KPTZ Sponsors Make Music Day 2018

KPTZ is on the bandwagon to feature Make Music Day (MMD) on Thursday, June 21, a summer solstice musical extravaganza of performances and participatory events in and around Port Townsend, as part of the worldwide celebration of music.

In Jefferson County, 50 or more musicians will perform, teach, and lead jams and song circles. Besides KPTZ, where we’ll publicize MMD events all this week, there are nearly two dozen participating venues where music will be free to the public all day.

Spearheaded by producer-singer-songwriter Judith-Kate Friedman, Make Music Day Port Townsend events will begin at 8am and continue throughout the day until 10pm. At 8:30pm, the finale event at the Cotton Building on Water Street gets dedicated to the life and contributions of KPTZ host and producer Marcia Perlstein, who passed away last February.

Stay tuned for details and spread the word!

Gary has a unique vision. Half of the property is now a charming Inn & Restaurant, with spectacular views of the Port Hadlock Marina and the coast beyond. It features galleries that celebrate local artists and hosts classes and lectures. The reincarnated Old Alcohol Plant is fast becoming a popular venue for weddings, parties and conferences. Then there’s the “other side.” Gary has a unique vision. Half of the property is the Bayside Tower, which houses community members in need of transitional housing. The ‘for profit’ side (the Inn & Restaurant) helps support the ‘non-profit’ side. It’s an innovative and compassionate way to help with our housing crisis.

Naya’s blankets for the homeless grew out of a simple conversation with a customer at The Boiler Room, an amazing gathering place that inspires creativity, provides job training and offers “Adulting” seminars – and, yes, great cookies. Join us for a heartfelt discussion as we learn how Naya and Amy impact our community with their heart for others.
