September is just around the corner, when both Port Townsend and Chimacum School Districts launch into the 2023-24 school year. Siobhan Canty and Chris Bricker are honored to have two special guests for a conversation about all things educational, including lessons learned over the last few landmark years, and the exciting plans afoot for the upcoming school year, from synchronized District Calendars to post-pandemic curriculum adjustments. Both Dr. Scott Mauk joined the Chimacum school community, and Dr. Linda Rosenbury joined Port Townsend School District as Superintendents in 2021. Collaboratively, they continue to cultivate meaningful changes in our local academic and non-academic learning environments.

Airing out the A.I.R.E. Program

(Airdate: August 21, 2023) Together to present the A.I.R.E. Program are Artist-in-Residence Carol Rashawanna Williams and A.I.R.E co-creators Tracy Grisman and Adrianna Santiago. Located at the Jefferson County Solid Waste Transfer Station, A.I.R.E. demonstrates the value of “garbage” as raw materials for the making of works of art. Hosted by Phil Andrus.

(Airdate: August 17, 2023) KPTZ DJ Taylor Clark had a chance to talk to Steve Grimes during Blues Journey on Thursday, August 17. They talked about his upcoming performance at the Palindrome and a bit about the recent devastating fire in Lahaina on Maui. Steve lives on Maui now and is a former Port Townsend resident. He is skilled luthier as well as a singer and songwriter. Note: He performed Friday, August 18 at the Palindrome at 7:30pm.
Brewocracy Now ~ 8/17/23

Guests on today’s Brewnow included Shelly Leavens, Communications & Marketing Manager for the City of Port Townsend and Steve King, Director of Public Works. We talked about needed maintenance for the sewer system. There was a report at City Council last Monday that outlined what is required and funding for that work. We also learned a bit about the city’s mulching project out at the county transfer station.
Booklovers’ Cafe – Tim McNulty, Old Growth

(Airdate: August 15, 2023) Cris Wilson talks to Olympic Peninsula poet and friend of Poet Mike O’Connor, Tim McNulty about the recently published poetry collection, Old Growth. Mike was the author of twelve books of poetry, stories and translations from the Chinese. The poems celebrate living simply, holding friends close, and honoring the earth. These lyric poems are of a special place we know and the place we don’t know.
