AARP Tax Aid Program

(First airdate: October 15, 2019) Yvonne Starkey of the AARP Tax-Aide Program dispels the misperceptions of becoming a volunteer tax aide volunteer. Filing a tax return can be daunting to many of us and these folks are here to help. This organization offers an extensive IRS course in December and January to those interested in becoming a certified a tax aide volunteer. Tune in to Everybody Can to learn more.

The second of the three candidate forums features challenger Monica MickHager who seeks to unseat incumbent Deborah Stinson in the race for Port Townsend City Council Position 3. In full disclosure, KPTZ wishes to make known that candidate Monica MickHager is a current member of KPTZ Radio Port Townsend’s Board of Directors.

Climate change is making us all think more about the earth’s resources. Even though we live in the so-called “Emerald State” we are not immune to water shortages. The summer of 2015 brought us every close to real problems. Ian and his team are responsible for making sure that the water that’s piped to us from the Big & Little Quilcine Rivers is pure and safe for drinking. Water-borne pathogens have killed in other parts of the country. He explains the elaborate system for making our water safe.
